Competition: Monday 1.00pm to 3.00pm (Seniors, Summer) 7.00pm to 11.00pm (Seniors)
Wednesday 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm approximately.
Friday 6.00pm to 9.00pm (Juniors)
Table hire: Tables and equipment may be hired during the hours mentioned above as on each occasion there are some tables not in use. Bookings may be made by contacting the stadium on 5339 2680.
SEASONS:
Three separate seasons are played during the year.
(a) Autumn season ( two player ) - commences with the start of the school year (late January or early February).
(b) Winter season-commences with the start of the 2nd school term-after Easter.
(c) Summer season-commences in about early September.
No competition matches are played during the school holidays.
(a) Seniors: Monday: A to D
(b) Wednesday mixed comp all graded
(c) Afternoon: Monday: A and B
(d) Juniors: Friday: All Grades
However, depending on the number of entries received each season, the extent of grades may vary.
For the Winter and Summer seasons grade championships are played on a knock-out basis in singles and doubles play. Players may enter for their own grade and the most senior grade, A1. Players must have qualified by playing some pennant matches before being eligible to play in the grade championships. Eligibility may be gained by playing as a fill-in.
FACILITIES:
The Ballarat stadium proudly boasts some of the best playing conditions in the world for table tennis. The stadium is spacious, has 26 regular courts plus a superb centre court. All aisles provide ample room and are furnished with numerous tables and seating for spectators19 courts have taraflex floor covering some of which was used in the Sydney 2000 Olympics It has a well stocked canteen which also supplies equipment. Any equipment not carried is ordered from state and interstate suppliers by the operators. Comfortable changing rooms, showers and toilets are accessed directly from within the stadium. A large car park adjoins the stadium and is flood-lit at night.
COACHING, CLINICS & HOLIDAY PROGRAMMES:
Coaching is available for any member on Wednesday nights between 6.00pm and 8.30pm. Cost: $4.00 per person. On Friday afternoon, from 4.30pm to 6.00pm juniors may attend. Cost: $4.00 per person.
The Association conducts occasional clinics for players, umpires, coaches and administrators.
Some holiday programmes are run in conjunction with other association that constitute the Hollioake Sports Association (Table Tennis, Basketball, Badminton, Tennis and Lawn Bowls). An expert and elite player and coach directs and conducts sessions with a support team of other coaches.
FEES & BENEFITS:
The night playing fee is the only amount solicited. Presently that stands at $9.00 for 11-rubber format. Members of the Ballarat Table Tennis Association are very fortunate as all other fees ( insurance and registration) are paid by the Ballarat to Table Tennis Victoria.
